R.I.P. – Rob “Wuffy” Woffinden

Berwick Speedway and all connected with the club were deeply saddened to hear the news early Saturday morning (January 30th 2010) of the death of former Bandit, Rob Woffinden.

“Wuffy” had battled bravely with his fight against cancer and did manage to achieve his final ambition – to see Christmas Day with his family, but today, his battle reached it’s chequered flag.

He will be dearly remembered by all Bandits’ fans who were fortunate enough to see him race at a track he reigned supreme, the old Berrington Lough circuit when he joined the Bandits in the late 80s following times with Scunthorpe, Rye House and Boston amongst others, but there were many who believed he always had a hankering to come to the border club.

His success on track for the Bandits was equalled by his big character and exploits off track as he rapidly became a firm favourite with the Tweedside Speedway faithful placing Wuffy firmly into their memories and hearts making sure he’d never be forgotten in North East Northumberland.

All at the club send their heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Rob’s family, including of course his son Tai who, like father – like son, has made a real impact with the Berwick fans, and friends the world over.

Rest In Peace Rob – -  A Bandit never to be forgotten.
