Michal Makovsky is a rare breed of speedway rider as currently he is the only foreign rider competing in the UK who has only ridden for one team, the Berwick Bandits – and this is his Testimonial tenth season.

Berwick’s speedway Bandits – now sponsored by A & J Scott Ltd — have stunned the sport by making a last-minute change to their seven-man roster for the 2010 campaign.

21-year old Anders Andersen, from Herning, Denmark, has been drafted by team boss Dave Peet after a frantic weekend of phone-calls, and the blond Viking will travel to Berwick this week in time to meet his new team-mates at the club’s Press ’n’ Practice session at Shielfield Park this Saturday (13th).

Over 400 enthusiastic Berwick Bandits’ supporters rock and rolled their way into the early hours of Sunday as the 2010 season’s launch took off in fine style.

Attended by 2010 Bandits, Lee Complin, skipper Paul Clews and testimonial man (big day Saturday 27th March at 7!!) Michal Makovsky, they were joined by popular former Berwickers Jac (The Lad) Rempala, Stan (The Man) Burza as well as Newcastle’s Adam McKinna and Sheffield’s Paul Cooper – a man well known for hating to miss a good party.

Once again, as is the continuing policy of Berwick Speedway, disclosure and honesty is always paramount, the club have told today that only three of the 2010 Bandits’ side will be attending this Saturday’s grand extravaganza celebrating the start of the new season.

At the Headland Ballroom this weekend unavoidable notes of absentee have been accepted from four of the 2010 team, all of whom have genuine reasons for not being present

Former World Champion “Sudden” Sam Ermolenko To Arrive In Style This Saturday.

Former Speedway World Champion, Californian “Sudden” Sam Ermolenko is back in Berwick this Saturday night, and as is only fitting, his arrival plans are suitably spectacular.

The Prior to the event at the Headland Ballroom, Berwick Holiday Centre, up on the cliff tops, the all-action American will arrive by helicopter, landing at the nearby Berwick Middle School field which will be cordoned off appropriately.
