YESTERDAY IN SCUNTHORPE – A WORTHY GOODBYE TO WUFFY.

Former Bandit Rob Woffinden was given a fantastic send-off in Scunthorpe  on Thursday afternoon.

Berwick were represented by  Dick Barrie, plus three of Rob’s team-mates from 1987/88 — Rob Grant, Sean Courtney and Wayne Ross (who travelled from Australia to be there!).

There were four World Champions (Lee, Collins, Ermolenko and Havelock)  present and probably a hundred other riders among a congregation of around 250 inside the chapel and seemingly as many  standing outside in bright sunshine.

Ten-times Australian Champion Leigh Adams led a large contingent of Aussies reminding us of Rob’s popularity in … Continue Reading

Berwick Speedway and all connected with the club were deeply saddened to hear the news early Saturday morning (January 30th 2010) of the death of former Bandit, Rob Woffinden.

“Wuffy” had battled bravely with his fight against cancer and did manage to achieve his final ambition – to see Christmas Day with his family, but today, his battle reached it’s chequered flag.
