In a three-hour session on track the six signed-up Bandits made the most of the free practice in readiness for the forthcoming match on Saturday against Newcastle.
Czechs Michal Makovsky and Adrian Rymel are the most experienced around the big Shielfield circuit and attacked the newly smoothed surface out with relish, adoring the third and fourth bends which now have no dodgy camber to foil the stars.
Italian Guglielmo Franchetti and Finn Tero Aarnio carefully found their feet, gaining is confidence and speed throughout looked more that capable of good scores by the time nine o’clock came around.
However it was left to the reserve pairing to get tongues wagging with two most impressive showings from Hungarian Norbert Magosi and Scot Adam McKinna who in particular showed an aggression and speed on the bends that can
only gain him many points.
McKinna has had a short career punctuated by injury but on the showing of Wednesday night this really could see the emergence of a new British talent.
Magosi, however, on his newly assessed five point average proved that he could be a massive bonus by starting the season at reserve with his very impressive lines on the bends and again speed and determination that should mean Heat Two for Berwick could be an unexpected points source.
“The press session was a massive hit with live TV, reporters and photographers soaking up the event and all six Bandits made sure they know the fast lines this season.
“All of the lads impressed, but I think in Adam [McKinna] and Norbert [Magosi] we could shake a few more well-established reserve partnerships in the early part of the season from other teams.”
