Mon 24 Mar 2008: Workington 53 - 40 Berwick

Match Report

Thomas Armstrong Ltd. Workington Comets 53

Andersons Quality Butchers Berwick Bandits 40

 (Premier Trophy)

The Berwick Bandits confounded the pundits with a gusty performance at Workington, going down by a reasonable 13 points – 53-40.

Star of the show was yet again the new Hungarian reserve, Norbert Magosi with his magnificent 15 (paid 16) points from seven rides proving this new star of the Premier League could have a big UK future.

Finn Tero Aarnio has also shown signs of inspired form, and in three races in Cumbria he certainly caught a few eyes, not least in his double point tactical ride when his win netted six points for Berwick in a rare away 1-8.

Michal Makovsky also grabbed two good heat wins, but it was Magosi that they were all taking about afterwards, including the locals.

With the first League match coming up this weekend away at Mildenhall the management are looking to have a full-strength side in place – again – to make sure their assault on the title does not go off the rails before it’s begun.
